Founded in 1851, YMCA of the USA is a leading non-profit organization focused on strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. In addition to a national office, the Y of the USA maintains 763 associations with 2,700 branch locations serving 20 million members in the United States.
YMCA of the USA faced challenges in managing their staff data of 30,000 unique staff records. This includes maintaining data accuracy and standardization as well as the ability to easily access and analyze staff information. These issues resulted in inefficient staff management processes, hindering the Y’s ability to make data-driven decisions and reducing operational productivity. To overcome these challenges, the YMCA needed a better way to manage its data.
YMCA of the USA recognized the importance of finding a master data management (MDM) solution that could provide accurate and consistent staff data from its 763 associated locations. The Y considered various factors in its search, including features for workflow automation, data integration and data stewardship as well as average implementation time and options for cloud deployment.

THE SOLUTION
YMCA of the USA chose to implement Profisee MDM SaaS, which aligned well with the YMCA’s needs and infrastructure strategy to be cloud-based. The Y decided to start its MDM journey by mastering its staff data, which it identified as a good place to start to learn and build rules that would lay the groundwork for future projects. The YMCA also has plans to master member and volunteer data with Profisee.

In a few short months, YMCA of the USA completed phase one of its implementation — mastering 30,000 unique staff records from its 763 associated branch locations across the US. This required integrating data from 29 different source systems across the enterprise, matching and merging those records and standardizing them in accordance with the Y’s data governance policies.
This now allows the Y to better manage memberships across regions and opens the door to much improved analytics on memberships, programs and initiatives so it can measure its success as well as identify opportunities for improvement.
